There’s never a dull moment at Fraserburgh & District Men’s Shed! From hands-on workshops and creative activities to interesting talks, health and wellbeing sessions, social events and plenty of opportunities to meet new people, there’s something for everyone.
Our programme is constantly changing, with new activities, events and special occasions being added throughout the year.

The singing group resumed – Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8pm
On Wednesday evenings, the workshop will also be open; however, the hall will be used exclusively by the singing group and will not be available for other shed activities.
The Aberdeenshire Rangers 6th Feb came with information about Nature Far Ye Bide, a partnership project between the RSPB and Aberdeenshire Council Ranger Service. The project is all about helping people in the Broch connect with and support nature on their doorstep. It was good to see their table was busy all morning. We hope to get involved later this year supplying some planters and bird boxes.
Music Bingo – we supported the Fraserburgh Academy trip to Borneo this year by spending a great evening at the Music Bingo at the Leisure Centre. We are intending to have our own Music Bingo Night later this year.
Pancake Day – the sweet pancakes went down well – and thanks to everyone who donated ingredients and fresh fruit etc.
Peterhead Prison visit – a group of us visited the museum.

Writing Group — meeting during normal shed opening on Wednesdays from 11am. It’s somewhere to share stories, memories, poems, or just put pen to paper. No experience needed, just an interest in writing. The art table will be used exclusively for the group.
Chinese New Year meal. We celebrated with several ‘Chinese’ dishes, and a good night was had by all.
Saturday 7th Mar – Tesco – We had a table in Tesco Fraserburgh foyer where we raised the profile of the Shed and raised money for our funds. Thanks to those who came and helped out
Monday 16th March – Stories from a Family History. A very interesting talk from a member about his family history and his ancestors along with some fascinating details of local drifters and their involvement in world conflicts over the years.
Saturday 28th March – We held our first Coffee Morning of the year at the Shed which was very well attended. Thank you to everyone who made the day a great success.
Knitting and Crafting Group – Friday mornings from 12 noon. Bring your projects and have a news.
Wednesday 1st April – we welcomed our friends from Insch and Leslie Men’s Shed. We shared stories and insights on Men’s Sheds in general. Both Sheds found the visit beneficial to all.
Thursday 23rd April – Fused glass session – a good turnout for Lee’s excellent tuition and guidance. There will be other sessions throughout the year, book early when you see the next one!
Saturday 2nd May – May Day Coffee Morning and tool sale was well attended – thank you to everyone who came.
Film Nights We have trialled having a film night at the shed and we will be showing films on a regular basis – dates and times to be confirmed. Hot dogs, Pick-n-mix, ice-cream and popcorn on the night!
Monday 11th May – We heard an informative and instructive talk by the British Divers Marine Rescue and their important work around our coast.
Thursday 21st May – the singing group was joined by two other local choirs, Aurora Choir and The Feerie Deems. It was a fantastic evening where everyone had a great time and made lots of new friends.
Friday 22nd May – NHS Grampian was on hand to showcase new Apps for monitoring health on your phones and other devices.
Tuesday 26th May – We hosted the Scottish Men’s Shed Association regional meeting.
10 Aberdeenshire sheds came along and shared their experiences.
During May we installed a Fire Detection and Alarm system for the hall and workshop.

Monday 15th June – We took part in the Scottish Men’s Shed Association Open Day.
We were open as normal, and we welcomed several visitors thanks to everyone who helped.
Monday 15th June – The talk from Peter Reid ‘Fishing for Litter’ was very interesting and thought provoking.
Friday 26th June – Strawberry tea sponsored by Co-op. Everyone enjoyed their scones and pancakes thanks to Vicki from the Co-op for her generous donations.
July 4th and 5th – Fraserburgh Arts Summer Exhibition at the Leisure Centre.
The shed has a table at this very popular event to answer questions about the Shed. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time to ‘man’ the stall. It’s a great venue to see Fraserburgh artists showcase their work and maybe sell some of their work. Open times Saturday 10am – 5pm: Sunday 11am -4pm
Monday 6th July 11am – Aberdeenshire Trading Standards and Police Scotland came along to chat about the latest scams and cons and how to avoid them. They give lots of free advice and tips on how to avoid being taken advantage of.
Friday 10th July – Community Learning and Development. Aberdeenshire CLD has offered to visit the Shed and provide support with things like technology, reading and writing, maths, and online safety. On Friday 10th July they will set up a table where members can chat with them and get help with any topics they are interested in and then tailor sessions accordingly.
Saturday 18th July – Summer BBQ. All welcome to our barbeque. Raffles, Tombola etc. Hopefully the weather improves!
